Take a sneek peek at how Moot looks and functions?

The technology

Moot is able to keep track of all other devices running Moot nearby, i.e., that are reachable through the wireless local network. A discovery protocol enables Moot to identify when new Moot devices arrive in the local network and when existing devices depart.

A second protocol, the Moot protocol, enables Moot devices to inform each other of what files and resources they have to offer. In other words, the Moot protocol allows Moot to generate an always up to date view of all the files and resources that are available on the local network, even as new Moot devices arrive and existing devices depart.

Note that the Moot protocol is decentralized, i.e., purely peer-to-peer; it operates without the need for servers or other types of infrastructure. The Moot protocol enables each Moot device to maintain a dynamic, real time database of files and resources on the local network, a database that serves as the foundation upon which all Moot services are built.
